The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued a stern warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, cautioning against any military confrontation with Iran, following a strike on the country on October 1.
President Masoud Pezeshkian took to the social media platform X to convey Iran’s position.
He wrote, “Based on legitimate rights and with the aim of peace and security for Iran and the region, a decisive response was given to the aggressions of the Zionist regime.”
The Iranian leader said their actions were purely defensive, stating, “This action was in defence of Iranian interests and citizens.”
He then directed a pointed message to the Israeli Prime Minister: “Netanyahu should know that Iran is not warmongering, but it will stand firmly against any threat.”
In what could be interpreted as a veiled warning, President Pezeshkian added, “This is just a glimpse of our capability.”
The statement suggests that Iran possesses greater military capacity than it has thus far demonstrated.
Concluding his message with a clear warning, the Iranian President urged, “Do not enter into conflict with Iran.”
Following the official message from Iran, the Pentagon said following the attack, “You don’t launch that many missiles without the intent to hit the target,” adding that Israel’s air defence managed to fend off most of the attacks.
The US government did not provide further information regarding military support from regional countries, including Jordan, where one missile crashed into a building.
