President Bola Tinubu addressed members of the Nigerian business community during an Iftar event in Abuja, expressing his commitment to performing his duties as the elected President of Nigeria. He emphasized the pivotal role of the private sector in driving economic growth and pledged to engage with them more frequently.
During the gathering, President Tinubu highlighted the importance of the private sector in fostering economic development. He acknowledged their endurance and perseverance amid economic challenges, affirming Nigeria’s determination to drive its economic transformation from within.
Reflecting on his visit to the New York Stock Exchange in 2023, Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s self-belief and potential to diversify its economy independently. He reiterated his dedication to fulfilling his mandate, stressing that he cannot afford to underperform given the trust placed in him by the electorate.
In response, members of the business community pledged their support for the administration’s economic agenda. Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings, assured Tinubu of the private sector’s solidarity and readiness to collaborate in driving Nigeria’s economic growth.
Additionally, Allen Onyema, CEO of Air Peace, urged business owners to collaborate in reducing the cost of products and services, citing the airline’s efforts to lower airfare costs. Dr. Stella Okoli, founder of Emzor Pharmaceutical Company, called for increased support for the pharmaceutical industry to enhance self-sufficiency and sustainability.
The event showcased the collaborative spirit between the government and the private sector in advancing Nigeria’s economic objectives. President Tinubu reiterated his commitment to steering Nigeria towards prosperity, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in achieving national development goals.
