JUST IN: Kwankwasiyya Movement, an emerging terrorist group
Stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) have issued a stern warning regarding the activities of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, labelling it as an “emerging terrorist group.”
The alarm was raised during a press conference organised by Concerned APC Members (CAM) today.
Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, Convener of Concerned APC Members, called on security agencies to intervene and address the alleged menace posed by the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
According to Ogenyi, recent events, including the attempted suspension of APC’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by individuals masquerading as party members, are indicative of a larger conspiracy orchestrated by the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
Ogenyi asserted that the movement’s affiliation with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is a deliberate attempt to sow discord within the APC.
He pointed out that Kwankwaso and his allies have resorted to clandestine tactics, including impersonation and intimidation, in their bid to undermine the APC’s leadership.
Ogenyi said: ”Our democracy is in clear danger, and this threat is coming from an emerging terrorist organisation known as the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
”It was obvious when one of the fanatic Kwankwasiyya members refused to removed his red cap as a mark of loyalty to the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
”Impersonation is a criminal offence punishable by law. We call on the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of State Security Service to immediately arrest the impostors and prosecute them to serve as a deterrent to others willing to orchestrate such devilish acts.
”These are people who openly threatened the judiciary during the tribunal days; they have no regard for the rule of law or any constituted authority other than the NNPP-led Kano State Government.
”If these impostors are not arrested and prosecuted immediately, in a short while, some members of the PDP or Labour Party may constitute themselves and suspend Mr President from the APC.”
