Lagos Governor Roasts Troll Over Ethnic Hate: “N900,000 to Snitch on the Cyber Nuisance!

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has come down hard on a social media call to arms under the hashtag #IgboMustGo, which demands the expulsion of Igbo people from Lagos and the Southwest region of Nigeria.

The governor’s scathing response came five days after the campaign was ignited by a pro-Lagos X account, @lagospedia, and mere hours after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar lambasted the initiative.

Internet sleuths have identified one Ifeoluwa Bolaji from Ikorodu as the mastermind behind the account, sharing his photos far and wide.

One enterprising user even offered a bounty of N900,000 for Bolaji’s capture. The account has since been vaporized from the micro-blogging site.

Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Sanwo-Olu, firmly distanced the governor and the Lagos State Government from the “reckless, divisive, and dangerous rhetoric” propagated by LagosPedia.

Sanwo-Olu made it clear: Lagos remains a melting pot for every Nigerian citizen, irrespective of their ethnic heritage.

He blasted the post as a sinister attempt to fracture the harmony between the Yoruba and other ethnic groups, especially those who call Lagos their home.

The governor urged all Lagosians to reject such divisive messages and not let them stir up unnecessary strife within the state.

“The post is not only reckless but also aims to sow discord between the Yoruba and other tribes.

“Lagos is a city for all Nigerians, and we will not tolerate any attempt to undermine our unity,” Sanwo-Olu declared.

Sanwo-Olu has called on security agencies to track down the culprits behind the inflammatory post and bring them to justice.

He reassured Lagosians of his unwavering commitment to peace and stability in the state.

“I appeal to all Lagosians to ignore such inflammatory posts and remain focused on fostering peace and unity.

“My administration will continue to work diligently to ensure lasting peace in Lagos,” the statement concluded.
