Nigerian midfielder Peter Olayinka was immense for Red Star Belgrade in the 2023/24 league campaign.

The 28-year-old played 34 league matches and scored 9 goals. Not only was he good in scoring but was also decisive in setting up his teammates after registering 4 assists to help his team win the Mozzart Bet Super Liga this season.

Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, England)

Leicester City secured promotion back to the Premier League after one year in the Championship with Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi playing a pivotal role.

The 2013 AFCON winner with Nigeria was injured at some point in Leicester’s campaign in England’s second-tier league, but his contribution of 4 goals and 5 assists in 32 matches proved decisive as Enzo Maresca’s side won the league.

After many years with the Foxes, Ndidi’s time with the club may well be over with his contract expiring this summer and no talks of renewal as at the time of writing.

Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England)

Like Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho is one of the Nigerians who won a league trophy in 2024 after securing the Championship title with Leicester City.

His contribution reads 5 goals and 1 assist in 23 matches for the club in the league. However, his time at the club also looks to come to an end with his contract expiring in June.

Victor Boniface (Bayer Leverkusen, Germany)

Victor Boniface ended the season as the best performing Super Eagles player across the European leagues. This he did in his first season with Bayer Leverkusen.

Nathan Tella (Bayer Leverkusen, Germany)

Deployed in several positions in the Bayer Leverkusen team, Nathan Tella showcased his versatility and usefulness whenever called upon.

The Nigerian midfielder featured in 24 league matches, scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists to ensure his team lifted the German Bundesliga title.

After a promising first season with the club, the former Southampton player will now look to build on his excellent displays for the champions next season.

William Troost-Ekong (PAOK Salonica, Greece)

Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong won the Greek Super League with PAOK Salonica, his first major trophy at club level.

The Nigerian defender underwent surgery shortly after returning to his club from the 2023 AFCON where he emerged as the best player.

Towards the end of the season, he made a comeback to help his team win the league even though he managed just 10 games.

Victor Olatunji (Sparta Praha, Czech)

Victor Oluyemi Olatunji is another Nigerian who won a league title this season after recording success with Sparta Praha in the Czech top-flight.

The 24-year-old forward struggled to cement a starting berth in the team with just 7 starts out of the 29 league matches he featured in. Olatunji registered 3 goals and 1 assist for his team, a decent contribution for a player who mostly comes from the bench.

Hogan Ukpa Effiong (Struga T&L, N. Macedonia)

Hogan Effiong has continued to fight for his place in the starting lineup in his second season with Struga T&L.

The 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder scored 1 goal in 12 games for Struga as his team won the league on head-to-head advantage over Shkendija after both teams finished with 64 points.
