Andy Robertson is not included in the list of players due to an ankle injury he sustained while representing Scotland in international matches.
Although Jurgen Klopp reassured everyone in his Friday news conference that the left-back’s injury is not severe, he has not been declared physically enough to play in the match against the Seagulls.
Conor Bradley replaces Robertson and plays as a right-back in a defensive formation that includes Jarell Quansah, Virgil van Dijk, and Joe Gomez. Ibrahima Konate is named as a substitute after recently recovering from an injury.
Caoimhin Kelleher retains his position as goalkeeper, while Alisson is still a few weeks away from resuming play.
Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister form an unaltered midfield trio that previously played against Manchester United before the international break. Curtis Jones is not included on the teamsheet.
Darwin Nunez is the main forward for the Reds, while Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz play on the sides.
In his pre-match programme notes, Jurgen Klopp highlighted that despite the limited number of games remaining in the season, there are still significant objectives to pursue.
“Attaining this stage given our current circumstances is relatively satisfactory, I would assert.” Now we must concentrate on maximizing the opportunities that we have provided for ourselves.
Prior to the last stretch of the season, captain Van Dijk had the same view, stating: “We are in a favorable position and it is logical to acknowledge that.” We have achieved this position via immense effort and determination, and there is no justification to anticipate any alteration in the necessary formula at present.
“If anything, we will need to provide additional resources because that is the inevitable outcome when the rewards become apparent.” The other teams will continue to exert pressure without any respite, and we must do the same. Every squad is competing for a certain goal.
