Both Liverpool and Arsenal are in the US to prepare for the upcoming season, as the Premier League giants are set to face off at Lincoln Financial Field on Wednesday.
The Reds, under new boss Arne Slot, defeated Real Betis 1-0 last Friday. The Gunners are coming off a 2-1 win over Manchester United.
The Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori, a sensation at Bologna, has completed his move to Arsenal, with whom he has signed a “long-term” contract and who he has already joined for their pre-season training camp in the United States.
“Last season, Riccardo was a prominent figure in their defensive line, emerging as one of the strongest and most consistent players in Serie A. He played a fundamental role in helping Bologna to an impressive fifth position and qualification for the Champions League for the first time in 60 years,” said Arsenal.
“It is a great signing and gives us enormous strength to reinforce our defence. Riccardo has great personality and character, with specific skills that will make us stronger in our effort to win important trophies,” said Mikel Arteta, his coach.
