Man punched to death while attempting to mediate in fight between 2 individuals
In a tragic incident in Adamawa State, a man named Markus Dali was fatally punched while trying to break up a fight between two individuals.
The confrontation occurred in the Sina Kwande community of the Michika Local Government Area, where Dali intervened during a physical altercation between two people, namely: Barka Yama and Alex Tari.
According to reports, Dali stepped in to separate the two when Barka Yama allegedly struck him, resulting in a blow that proved to be fatal.
Following the incident on August 30, 2024, Dali fell unconscious and was later pronounced dead by a medical professional after being rushed to the hospital.
The Adamawa State Police Command promptly arrested Barka Yama, 32, and charged him with culpable homicide.
During proceedings at the Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola, the prosecuting officer, ASP Francis Audu, detailed the events leading up to Dali’s death, emphasising that Dali was merely trying to help.
After Barka Yama pleaded guilty, the prosecutor requested that he be remanded in a correctional facility while the case file is sent to the Department of Public Prosecution for further legal guidance.
Chief Magistrate Muhammed Njidda approved the request, ordering that Yama be held in custody.
