Manchester United’s pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise may face complications due to Chelsea’s interest, according to People’s Person.
Fresh off their FA Cup victory, United defeated Manchester City 2-1, which was their first cup win since 2016 under Louis van Gaal.
This win has brightened the season for United’s supporters, though the team’s eighth-place league finish reveals the need for huge moves in the transfer market.
Michael Olise has emerged as a prime target for United.
Despite being limited to 19 games this season due to injury, Olise managed to score 10 goals and provide six assists.
United’s hierarchy has given the green light to pursue Olise, with the club reportedly fully committed to securing his signature.
However, competition for the 22-year-old services is increasing. Newcastle United and Chelsea are also keen on the Frenchman.
Reports initially suggested that United were leading the race, bolstered by Olise’s desire to move to Old Trafford.
However, a recent update from The Mirror reveals that Chelsea are prepared to bid £60 million for Olise, irrespective of their managerial situation.
Arsenal might also be in the mix, with their Champions League qualification potentially giving them an edge.
United’s cup victory strengthens their position in negotiations, as they can now offer Europa League football, unlike Chelsea who can only offer Conference League participation, and Newcastle, who missed out on European qualification altogether.
Olise’s childhood support for United could also be the deciding factor.
