Mauricio Pochettino Chelsea confirms three new injuries in a big blow ahead of Burnley

Chelsea have confirmed three new injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Burnley at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have suffered with injuries throughout the entirety of the season with a number of players missing large parts of the season.

Before the recent international break, Mauricio Pochettino was without six players for the FA Cup quarter-final win over Leicester City. Christopher Nkunku, Levi Colwill, Romeo Lavia, Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Lesley Ugochukwu all missed the game.

The west Londoners are back in action this weekend after nearly a fortnight away but Pochettino has been handed a triple setback ahead of the visit of Burnley. In an injury update released by the club on Thursday afternoon, there were three new names added to the list.

Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka and Robert Sanchez are all out injured. Chalobah and Sanchez both started in the 4-2 victory over Leicester last time out, playing the full 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge.

Chukwuemeka came off the bench in the 78th minute and scored the winner with a neat finish. He had originally been called-up to the England Under-21 squad but he missed the 5-1 win over Azerbaijan due to a ‘knock’.

According to the update from the club, Chukwuemeka and Sanchez are undergoing a ‘rehabilitation programme’ as part of their recovery, while Chalobah is ‘in partial team training’.

It means that Chelsea and Pochettino will be without nine players for Saturday’s game. The Argentine has suffered with being without a list of players throughout his debut season at the club.
