Meet Princess Owowoh, Nigeria’s first female officer to graduate from UK’s Military Academy
In a historic moment for Nigeria and the global military community, Officer Cadet Owowoh Princess Oluchukwu has etched her name in the annals of history as the first-ever Nigerian female officer to graduate from the prestigious United Kingdom’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS).
At the age of 24, Princess Owowoh graduated on a momentous Friday alongside 134 other Officer Cadets during RMAS’ Sovereign’s Parade in London. The parade served as the culmination of 44 weeks of rigorous training for the Officer Cadets of Commissioning Course 232.
Princess Owowoh’s journey to this significant achievement began in 2018 when she enrolled at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Her dedication and leadership qualities quickly became apparent as she progressed through the ranks.
During her tenure at the NDA, Princess Owowoh demonstrated exceptional leadership skills. In her second year, she was appointed as a Cadet Lance Corporal, followed by a promotion to Cadet Sergeant in her fourth year.
Notably, in her fifth year, she assumed the prestigious role of Company Senior Under Officer Charlie (CSUO C), making history as one of the first females to hold this position in the academy’s illustrious history.

Princess Owowoh’s academic prowess paralleled her military achievements. In her fourth year, she excelled in the Academics Wing of the commissioning course, earning first-class honors in Biological Sciences.
Her journey reached a pivotal juncture when she was selected as one of the international cadets to undergo leadership training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in Camberley, Surrey.
This opportunity provided her with invaluable insights and experiences, preparing her for her forthcoming responsibilities in the Nigerian military and beyond.
Upon her graduation, Officer Cadet Oluchukwu is poised to return to serve her country in the Nigerian military, where she is expected to join the intelligence corps.
