More details have emerged concerning the foiled IED atta3k on July 31, 2024 in Lagos.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, the explosive device was found after a police officer reported that he saw a young man alight from an unregistered car & dropped a bag containing the explosive device by the side of the Nigerian customs federal operations unit fence in Ikeja, Lagos.

Based on the report, a team from the base was quickly mobilized to the scene to identify the object & render same safe if confirmed to be IED. On arrival, it was confirmed to be an IED.

Subsequently the area was cordoned off & SOP adopted the IED, rendered it safe & thereafter it was taken to a safe distance for deactivation. Meanwhile the residual of the IED was collected for further analysis & investigation as the area has been rendered calm.

Residents are advised to go about their lawful duties as the Lagos police is working round the clock to ensure their safety.”
