Most Rev. JONAS BENSON OKOYE Should Be Given The Best Priest Of The Year Award.
Yesterday, I fell in love with this Bishop, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese.
For me, he is the best clergy in the entire South East currently, and that award should be given to him.
Everyone knows I am not a fan of religious leaders because many have abandoned their calling for politics, and most of them have become politicians. But the Most Reverend proved me wrong yesterday.
This priest boldly, from the altar at St. Peter’s Nnewi, called the unknown gunmen criminals and bandits who should not exist and should not be allowed to exist at all.
Without any fear, despite residing in Anambra South, where insecurity is a major issue, he condemned, in its entirety, the criminal Simon Ekpa and everyone supporting these criminals.
This is something you rarely see religious leaders do openly in the East. Most of them have become like tax collectors, afraid to speak the truth. Even the priests and apostles in the Bible boldly spoke against evil without fear of prosecution, but that is not the case with most religious leaders in the South East.
Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, for me, has become the best and most fearless priest, and from yesterday, he has earned my respect twofold.
If all the pastors and reverend fathers in the East preached every Sunday against these criminals and directed their members to stop supporting them, we would see a different scenario.
Religious leaders control a large number of people, and about 99.5% of these criminals come from Christian families.
