Murderer who escaped from prison in Maiduguri arrested by Police patrol team

The Borno State Police Command has rearrested Abubakar Mohammed, a 27-year-old convict who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Center in Maiduguri, where he was serving a sentence for culpable homicide.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, Mohammed took advantage of the prison break caused by the collapse of the facility’s fence during recent floods in Maiduguri.

The statement said: “On September 15, 2024, at around 3:00 p.m., a vigilant resident of Bulakara Ward in Gubio Local Government Area spotted Abubakar in Gubio town and immediately alerted the authorities.
