NEMA Conducts Assessment of Fire Disaster In 3 Communities In Mbo LGA, Akwa Ibom State
Following the distress call received from Akwa Ibom State SEMA of a fire disaster in three (3) communities namely: Effiat, Uda and Ebughu communities in Mbo LGA, Akwa Ibom State, Officials of the NEMA Uyo Operations office, Akwa Ibom State SEMA (AKSEMA) officials, Mbo Local Government officials and community leaders carried out an on-the-spot assessment to ascertain the extent of damage.

The NEMA team, led by the Asst. Chief Search and Rescue Officer, Mr. Egwu Demian Udeh, in company of AKSEMA officials Mr. Isaac Umanna and Mrs. Stella Ukim were warmly received on arrival by the Vice Chairman Mbo LGA, Hon. Wisdom Asukwo, the Village head, Chief Inyang Etim and other community leaders. The team commiserated with the people over the fire disaster that affected the communities. The community leader expressed his appreciation to NEMA and the State Government for their response.
The team were taken round the three (3) affected communities in the LGA. The incident destroyed/affected houses, shops, canoes, speed boat, fishing net, fishing tools and farmland. In some cases, cash was also lost. Generally, the livelihoods of members of the communities were seriously impacted.
