Official Statement: Peace Mass Transit Responds to Viral Video After Bus Breakdown in Benue

The attention of the management of Peace Mass Transit has been drawn to a viral video circulating on social media regarding an incident on November 8, 2024, involving one of our buses (PMT 1678) traveling from Mararaba to Enugu, which encountered a mechanical issue midway through the journey near Otukpa, Benue State.

After conducting a thorough investigation, we can confirm the following:

No passenger’s contributions of #1,000 were required or collected.

While some passengers suggested contributing #1,000 each to expedite repairs, the driver—adhering to company policy—declined this offer and assured passengers that Peace Mass Transit management was actively handling the repair costs.

Peace Mass Transit management promptly approved and sent the required #12,000 to the driver for purchasing the replacement part (centre bearing) to ensure swift repairs and continuation of the journey.

The Mararaba branch manager confirmed that the funds were sent, and the driver also acknowledged receiving them.

By the grace of God, the passengers, including the young man who posted the video, successfully arrived at their destination aboard the same bus following the completion of the necessary repairs.

Given our findings that no passenger contributions were necessary or collected, we respectfully ask that the passenger who posted the video and shared false information tender an unreserved apology within 72 hours. We shall not allow any person to use our hard earned name to attract followership to their social media page.
