Pastor Adeboye reveals what ptevented Naira from plumeting to N10,00 to one American dollar
Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has claimed that Nigeria’s currency could have plummeted to as low as ₦10,000 to $1 were it not for divine intervention.
Speaking at the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, Adeboye highlighted the nation’s ongoing economic struggles, attributing much of the financial strain to Nigeria’s dependence on fuel imports, despite its vast domestic oil reserves.
The cleric pointed out that substantial resources have been invested in refineries, many of which remain inactive or inefficient, thus perpetuating the country’s reliance on imported petroleum products.
He also addressed the heated debate surrounding the government’s decision to remove fuel subsidies, acknowledging the complex challenges this move presents for the nation’s economy and its citizens.
“We need help, and it’s not human help; it’s divine help.
“Before our current president took office, we were aware that the root of our financial issues lay in the importation of petrol. Despite having oil, we continued to import petrol and waste billions on refineries that did not operate effectively.
“When the president cancelled the subsidy on petrol imports, those who benefited from it became upset and created more problems.
“If God hadn’t intervened, $1 could have been worth N10,000 by now. This illustrates how much we need prayers,” he said.
