Peter Obi Refutes Protest Involvement, Calls for United Front Against Misinformation.

Give this a wonderful headline

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has denied any involvement in the #EndBadGovernance protest, responding to a widely circulated video on social media. He also refuted claims that he called for war on Northerners, clarifying that he is instead declaring war on economic stagnation, insecurity, and corruption.

In a statement released on Friday on his X handle, Obi stated that the misrepresentation is part of a larger blackmail narrative aimed at fitting him into a malicious agenda.

“I have noticed some deliberate and well-orchestrated efforts by some persons to blackmail me into conforming to their nefarious agendas. Their dubious moves have led to the false circulation of a video from my recent keynote speech at the installation of Rotarian Professor A. U. Nnonyelu in Anambra State,” Obi stated.

Mr. Obi explained that the video was twisted to suggest he declared war on Northerners, when in fact he was addressing economic issues. He also clarified that another video allegedly showing him leading a protest in Abuja was false, as it was actually taken during his visit to the Labour Party HQ to mediate a clash between the Labour Party and the NLC.

“The video was conveniently edited to create a false narrative, and those responsible have been paid to spread the misinformation,” Obi asserted. He emphasized that such misinformation has no place in a democracy, where truth and honesty should prevail.

Obi expressed his commitment to a new Nigeria where justice, equity, and care for citizens override the greed of a few. He also addressed genocidal threats against the Igbo tribe, urging authorities to take immediate action to investigate, arrest, and prosecute those behind such rhetoric, as it threatens national unity and security.

“I urge all Nigerians to stand united against this divisive rhetoric and to champion unity, tolerance, and understanding. Our future depends on our ability to live and work together harmoniously,” he concluded. “The government and security agencies must act swiftly to protect this fundamental principle and ensure that every Nigerian can live free from fear of discrimination or persecution. We must not allow our present challenges to drive wedges among us.”
