Premier League: Table And Match Review After Sunday’s Game

Arsenal secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, with Leandro Trossard’s first-half goal proving decisive in keeping the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes alive.

According to a report by Flashscore, the win marked only the second time in their last 17 away meetings with the Red Devils that Arsenal emerged triumphant.

The match began with both teams eager to assert their dominance, but it was Manchester United who had the early opportunities. Rasmus Højlund squandered a golden chance, failing to capitalize on Scott McTominay’s interception from Thomas Partey. However, United failed to capitalize on their early momentum, with Alejandro Garnacho seeing his shot deflected wide by Gabriel Magalhães.

Arsenal gradually settled into the game and seized the initiative in the 21st minute. Ben White exploited Casemiro’s defensive lapse, releasing Kai Havertz, whose precise pass found Trossard for a simple finish. Despite United’s encouraging moments, particularly from Amad Diallo, Arsenal remained in control for large periods, with Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White both testing the United defense.

As the game progressed, Arsenal came close to extending their lead, only to be denied by resolute defending from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot. William Saliba also made a crucial intervention to thwart Garnacho’s advances, showcasing Arsenal’s defensive solidity.

Despite late pressure from Arsenal, United’s goalkeeper, André Onana, produced a string of saves to keep his side in the game. However, Trossard’s goal proved to be the difference as Arsenal held on for a vital victory, securing their fifth consecutive win and reclaiming the top spot in the league standings.
