Prophetess arrested by Police operatives over tragic death of pregnant Woman during childbirth

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Prophetess Folashade Kikiowo Adekola, an attendant at a church in Akure, following the tragic death of a pregnant woman, Jumoke Adesuwa.

The 28-year-old mother died from complications during childbirth after bleeding heavily. Jumoke had been staying at the church for several days, seeking spiritual cleansing for a safe delivery, unbeknownst to her husband.

Adekola, the Pastor-in-Charge of Christ Engracing Deliverance Ministry in the Oke-Aro area of Akure, was the one who assisted in delivering the baby.

However, the delivery encountered severe complications. The baby died shortly after birth, and Jumoke tragically bled to death.

After the incident, the deceased’s brother reported the matter to the Oke-Aro Police Station, prompting an investigation. Jumoke was rushed to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save her life, but despite efforts to revive her, she passed away a few hours later.

A family source revealed to Nigerian Tribune that Jumoke’s husband, Ayodele Adesuwa, had given her money to register at a government hospital for the birth.

However, she chose to seek spiritual help at the church without informing him of her decision.

The police have taken Prophetess Adekola into custody as they continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

She said, “The husband of the deceased came from the farm in Idanre after being away for five days and did not know the whereabouts of his wife, but the neighbours told him the woman had been in church for some time.

“Someone from the church called in the evening to inform the husband that his wife has delivered a baby. The deceased’s husband called me, and we rushed to the said church called ‘Muzuzo’ at Oke-Aro.

“When we got there, we were told that the baby died in the process, but the mother was alive. On sighting the deceased, we saw her in her pool of blood, bleeding profusely. So, we rushed her to a nearby hospital.

“Due to her condition, she was rejected at three hospitals and she died in the process of reviving her in the last hospital that admitted her.

“To our surprise, we got to the church to collect the baby’s remains and we found the corpse in a room in the church. The condition of the room was very worrisome, as it does not look like a delivery room.
