Rajesh Hamal, now 60, was born on June 9, 1964, in Tansen, Palpa, Nepal.

He is the son of Dr. Chuda Bahadur Hamal, a prominent diplomat who served as Nepal’s ambassador to various countries, and Renu Hamal.

As a result of his father’s diplomatic career, Hamal spent much of his childhood traveling. He lived in Moscow during his adolescence and later moved to India, where he completed his education.

He earned his Master’s degree in English Literature from Panjab University, Chandigarh, India, where he graduated as a gold medalist.
