There have been numerous reactions from social media users after a report revealed that Nigeria has fallen to the fourth largest economy in Africa after leading the list in 2014.
StatiSense, a well-known AI data company, conducted this survey, and the results were released on Sunday via their official X handle.
According to their post, Nigeria has dropped to the fourth largest economy in Africa, with an estimated GDP of $252.7 billion.

As shown in the photos above, the research reveals a significant decline in Nigeria’s economic status. In 2014, Nigeria had the largest economy in Africa, with a GDP of $568.5 billion. However, by 2023, its GDP had fallen to $374.9 billion. The latest survey in 2024 shows that South Africa has now taken the lead, with an estimated GDP of $373.2 billion, followed by Egypt with $347.6 billion. Algeria has moved up to third place, with a GDP of $266.8 billion, pushing Nigeria down to fourth place.
