Jude Bellingham and Reece have both sent Tammy Abraham a classy message on social media. The 26-year-old striker, who has spent the best part of a year nursing an anterior cruciate ligament injury, featured off the bench during Roma’s clash against Lazio.

The England international was given a brilliant reception upon his return to the Stadio Olimpico after 10 months in the treatment room. After the game, Abraham marked the occasion with a celebratory post on Instagram, which he captioned: “307 days later.. all I can say is thank you God! The city is OURS! [yellow and red heart emoji] Daje Roma Sempre!!”

The former Chelsea striker’s post racked up over 150,000 likes in less than 12 hours, with hundreds of supporters flooding the comment section with messages of support. Bellingham and James also showed their appreciation for Abraham, with the latter sending red heart emojis and the latter writing: “Happy for you brother.”

Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Destiny Udogie, Reiss Nelson and Jadon Sanch, among other fellow colleagues, also penned messages to the Cobham graduate. Speaking to Roma TV after the Lazio clash, as quoted by the RomaPress, Abraham reflected on his road to recovery.

“I have no words, it’s been a very difficult 10 months for me,” said the Englishman. “I’m happy to be back on the pitch, with the team and with these fantastic fans. There is still a lot to do, I can still give a lot, to make sure I’m there when the team needs me.

“This was the perfect match to return, we attacked and defended as a team. For me the important thing was to get back on the pitch and help the team as much as possible.

“I dedicate it to my family, friends and medical staff. To the coach and my teammates, they have always been there and supported me. The fans who have always been by my side were also important. Now comes another big match and we must be ready for it.”

Meanwhile, De Rossi said: “I liked everything today, I also what we did with the ball in the first half, although we could have been more aggressive in the last 30 metres. The team kept control of the ball and conceded very little.

“I’m happy with what they did tactically. From a temperamental point of view they were fantastic, perfect, the derby should always be played like this. I told them that if they played like this the result would come, and if it didn’t come I would still shake their hands.

“In the derby you need to be rude, a bit ignorant, without doing the shit I did, leaving the team down to 10 men. The boys were impeccable.”
