Robber Rumble: Northern Nigeria’s Notorious Thieves Nabbed!

The Nigeria Police Command, Zone 7 Command Headquarters in Abuja, has arrested a notorious gang of armed robbers from northern Nigeria, recovering firearms, 10 stolen vehicles, laptops, phones, and other items.

The Zone 7 Police Command, overseeing the FCT and Niger State Police Commands, apprehended four suspects: Solomon Nuhu (22), Faruk Umar (17), specialists in car snatching at gunpoint, Bolaji Yusuf (34), and Lawal Yusuf (38), for crimes including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, possession of stolen vehicles, and unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm.

Police detectives from the Special Investigation Squad of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, using actionable intelligence, successfully apprehended Haruna Akubo, a.k.a Young Alhaji, recovering five suspected stolen vehicles from L.Y Nadabo Motors opposite One Man Village Shopping Center, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State. Two other suspects, Bolaji Yusuf and Abubakar Umar, were also arrested at Heart Plaza, Maraba, with Bolaji found in possession of two vehicle master keys, three stolen phones, and a bunch of car keys.

Preliminary investigations led to the recovery of thirty-two phones of various makes and a 9mm Beretta pistol with live ammunition from Faruk Umar. The Beretta pistol was reportedly purchased from Faruk by Solomon Nuhu for N130,000. Detectives also traced some vehicles to Ankpa LGA of Kogi State, recovering five more cars, including a Lexus IS 250, whose owner was allegedly killed during the robbery, with the killer Ibrahim Umar a.k.a Godiya still at large.

In total, the syndicate had 10 vehicles of various brands, all with altered chassis numbers. Other items recovered include one fabricated Beretta pistol with one live round, three laptops, one LG television set, 32 mobile phones, fabricated car master keys, two POS machines, 13 used SIM cards, 14 packs of SIM cards, and other phone kits.
