Rudeboy Speaks Out: The Truth Behind the Betrayal and the Future of P-Square

I never wanted to say this publicly, but I have to now. Imagine being in my shoes: your own blood brother reports you to the EFCC, accusing you of illegal business practices and diverting P-Square royalties into your personal account, only for you to be later clear by EFCC, after Many months of investigation. How would you feel?

Look at it in this perspective: what if I were actually doing something illegal, and it was my brother who sent me to jail? I am a brand ambassador for many companies, all of whom have reached out to me to verify if I’m guilty of the accusations. I am at risk of losing all my ambassadorial roles.

I believe others influenced my brother’s actions, as he has always been unhappy with being seen merely as a dancer while I was recognized as the singer. I advised him to disregard people’s opinions and focus on our work.

The issues began when we wanted to sing with an American artist. He insisted on taking the lead on the song, even though I wrote it and 99% of our other tracks. I agreed, but now, 15 years later, that song has only 3 million views, in contrast to the others where I led.

I never wanted P-Square to fail; after all, I built it and contributed 99% of its success. However, it seems my brother wanted it to end this way. I don’t think we’ll be able to work together again.

My brother was surprised by what he thought I had, forgetting that I am a businessman and not one to spend extravagantly. Imagine being accused of stealing from your own. Even if I were diverting money from P-Square’s catalogue, I am the one who wrote 99% of the songs and have shared them generously with my brother.

This situation began last year, but I kept quiet until now to let my fans know the truth. My brother wanted it to play out this way. I’m happy to have built another successful brand, Rudeboy, which I nearly abandoned after our return in 2021. But now, I must focus on it.
