Senator construct military base, hands it over to Nigerian Army

Senator Sunday Karimi has handed over a newly constructed military base to the Nigerian Army in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area.

This bold move aims to strengthen security in Kogi and Kwara States, combating terrorism, kidnapping, and other crimes in the region.

The idea for the military base was born in January 2024, driven by the need for swift action against rising crime along the Kogi-Kwara border.

Senator Karimi who represents Kogi West Senatorial District, envisioned a standard military base that would deter criminals and restore peace to local communities.

The base boasts essential facilities, including: Accommodation, Security, an armoury, watchtower, and CCTV cameras for enhanced surveillance, Administration, Living quarters for the base commander and office wing for the Commander, 25KVA solar generating inverters and a 22KVA standby generator, with plans to connect to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) power grid.

Governor Usman Ododo and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, praised Senator Karimi’s initiative, highlighting its strategic importance in securing Kogi State and ten neighboring states.

This partnership underscores the value of collaborative efforts in combating insecurity.
