Social Media on fire as Labour Party House of Rep member wears Tinubu’s signature cap
A social media stir erupted over the weekend when a photo surfaced of Labour Party’s Thaddeus Attah, representing the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in Lagos, wearing a cap associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Attah, who had risen to prominence partly due to the popularity of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2023 election, was seen sporting the signature cap of the president.
Obi, who came third in the presidential race, notably defeated Tinubu in Lagos, Tinubu’s political stronghold. Attah, elected on the same day as the presidential election, was one of the prominent figures who rode the wave of Obi’s influence.
In the now-viral photo, Attah’s cap bore the phrase, “THE TASK OF GOOD GOVERNANCE HAS BEGUN,” along with his title as a member of the Federal House of Representatives.
The image sparked reactions across social media, with many Nigerians questioning Attah’s intentions. His choice to wear the cap, which is closely associated with Tinubu, has left people wondering what message he might be signaling.
Posting on his X handle, one Prince Saviour stated, “Opposition Otilo ooh. Our Lagos Labour Party House of Representatives, Representing Eti OSA Federal Constituency Putting on Tinubu cap. Ire ooh. What pains most is the people sacrifices, time, resources, sweat and tears and blood put together to elect this guys voluntary.”
Tweeting via @JustKingss, another X user said, “Nobody elected him bro, nobody even knew him. The thing is everyone was voting LP from top to bottom so he was lucky that Peter Obi grace got him elected. If it was by candidate Banky W was the best candidate and everyone knew about that. The odds for him joining APC for next.”
