Solo London to Lagos driver, Pelumi Nubi, receives heroic welcome in Nigeria

Pelumi Nubi, the intrepid content creator who embarked on a solo road trip from London to Lagos, has finally arrived in Nigeria to a grand reception.

Pelumi was greeted at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border by representatives of the Lagos State Government, including the Honorable Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe.

Her journey’s second leg took her to Badagry before heading to Unilag for a celebratory homecoming.

Expressing her joy to Channels Television, she exclaimed, “I feel so good to be home. Honestly, the homecoming has been so amazing and really welcoming.”

She continued, “Honestly, Nigeria is definitely home to me, so it’s more than amazing. I expected the homecoming, but this has been incredible, so thank you so much, I am really grateful, and I can’t wait for the celebration that is waiting for me at Unilag.”

Nubi, who embarked on her adventure on January 31, faced adversity when she was involved in an accident along the way.

In a March Instagram post, she shared images of her damaged car, showcasing a severely damaged front bumper and a shattered windscreen. Accompanying footage depicted her being transported in an ambulance, with the caption: “Say a prayer for me.”

Her safe arrival in Nigeria brought relief to her father, who described it as the “end of anxiety,” revealing the emotional toll her journey took on the family.

Recalling her decision to undertake the journey, Pelumi’s mother expressed her support, noting her daughter’s extensive travel experience, having visited over 80 countries.

In an earlier interview with Channels Television, Nubi explained her motivation for the cross-continental drive, emphasizing her desire to inspire others, particularly women, to venture beyond their comfort zones and accomplish remarkable feats.

Nubi’s courageous journey serves as a testament to the spirit of adventure and resilience, inspiring countless individuals along the way.
