Stella Ikwuegbu, Veteran Nollywood Actress, Passes Away

Stella Ikwuegbu, a beloved veteran Nollywood actress known for her motherly roles, has passed away. The news was shared by filmmaker Stanley Nwoko, also known as Stanley Ontop, on his Instagram page. He revealed that the actress succumbed to leg cancer on Sunday, June 16.

Stanley Ontop’s post read: “Nollywood actress and veteran Mrs. Stella Ikwuegbu is dead. The veteran actress left this world today after battling with leg cancer. Rest well, Madam Stella. Nollywood again. It’s well.”

Broadcaster Ijele Ozioma also confirmed the news on Facebook, expressing her sorrow: “Ukwu Gi Dia. Why? You scaled through several accidents and all. Eniure/Achiere came, and in less than a week, it killed you. I feel bad. Stella Ikwuegbu, today is Father’s Day. Why did you give us this gift on a day like this? Just why? Adieu, the great actress, extraordinary. Stella Ikwuegbu, you didn’t enjoy a thing.”

Stella Ikwuegbu began her acting career in 1990 and starred in numerous films, including ‘Spoiler’, ‘Ukwa’, ‘Sound of Love’, ‘Holy Man’, ‘Two Hearts’, ‘Heart of Stone’, and ‘Madam Koikoi’. Born in Enugu, she was also a businesswoman who opened her restaurant, ‘The Film Bar’, on August 1.

At the time of her passing, her age was not disclosed. She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren.
