Stop these fake Miracles in Churches — Popular Actor calls for actions from CAN, Govt
Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has spoken out against the growing issue of fake miracles in churches, urging pastors to reassess their actions and motives.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Ogbonna expressed deep concern over clergymen deceiving and exploiting vulnerable worshippers with staged miracles.
He criticised this practice as a distortion of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for personal gain.
Ogbonna warned that using God’s name for falsehood betrays the gospel, leading to broken trust, manipulated faith, and even lost lives.
He also cautioned against the influence of social media trends that mock and trivialise religious beliefs, emphasising that Christianity should not be reduced to a tool for gaining likes, views, or viral fame.
He further called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the government to take action by regulating and holding pastors accountable for fraudulent activities within churches.
He wrote: “Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows he will also reap. Fake Miracles Are Mocking Christianity.
“It’s heartbreaking to see pastors using fake miracles to deceive and exploit vulnerable people. These acts stain the true essence of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for selfish gain. The consequences? Broken trust lost lives, and faith manipulated for profit.
“To those pastors, it’s time to reflect—using God’s name for falsehood is a betrayal of the gospel. To the victims, remember your faith is sacred, and true miracles don’t come from deception.
“Let’s also be cautious not to get carried away by social media trends that disrespect and ridicule our faith. Christianity should never be used as a tool for likes, views, or viral content.
“I call on the government and religious bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria to step up, regulate, and hold these bad actors accountable. Christianity is about truth, love, and humility—not fraud, manipulation, or mockery.
“Let’s stand together to protect the integrity of our faith!”.
