Stray dog rescues abandoned baby boy in Anambra forest
A stray dog in the forest of Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, has come to the rescue of a baby boy who was reportedly abandoned.
The baby, who had been left tied in a plastic bag in the forest for two days, was discovered by the canine.
Witnesses to the incident revealed that the dog, while in search of food, stumbled upon the baby and then proceeded to carefully carry the infant across a busy road, placing him in plain sight for help to arrive.
The infant was eventually found by passersby and brought to safety for necessary care and attention.

According to a source close to the matter, “The dog found the baby in a plastic bag where he had been abandoned in the forest. The baby had likely been left there for approximately two days before the dog came to his rescue. Thankfully, the baby is now stable and doing well.”
A viral video circulating online captured local midwives tending to the baby, expressing their shock and disgust at the cruel act of abandonment.
They voiced their dismay at how someone could carry a child for nine months only to cruelly discard them in such a manner.
While expressing gratitude that the baby was spared from harm, the individuals in the video urged anyone facing a similar situation to seek help for the child rather than leaving them vulnerable in dangerous circumstances.
They also called for compassion and care to be extended to those in need.
Efforts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, for further information on the case were unsuccessful.
