The Federal Security Agencies Have Taken Over The State, So I Don’t Have Any Say – Godwin Obaseki

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has commended the determination of voters who faced heavy rainfall to cast their ballots in the gubernatorial election. On election day, he expressed admiration for the commitment shown by Edo citizens, especially the youth, in exercising their democratic rights despite the adverse weather conditions.

According to a report from Punch, Governor Obaseki noted the presence of federal security agencies, including the military, deployed to uphold peace during the electoral process. He voiced his approval of their involvement, stating that their presence was instrumental in maintaining order. “I am satisfied with the military presence in the state. The federal security agencies have taken charge, and I believe the IGP is the chief security officer here,” Obaseki remarked.

However, despite his overall positive assessment, Obaseki expressed concerns regarding certain irregularities reported in specific locations, particularly those involving police activities. He highlighted incidents at the Ogbe polling field where individuals posing as police officers were allegedly attempting to arrest voters.
