Three Soldiers shot dead in suspected gunmen ambush attack
In Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, tragedy struck as three soldiers from the 14 Brigade Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, stationed at the 144 Battalion, were reportedly killed.
The incident occurred at an army outpost situated at the well-known Obikabia junction, off Umuola in Aba North local government area.
Masked assailants, arriving in a black SUV, caught the soldiers off guard. In a swift and violent attack, they not only took the lives of the soldiers but also seized their firearms.
The assailants further worsened the situation by setting fire to the soldiers’ patrol van and the outpost before making their escape.
The presence of military aircraft was however observed hovering over the city center, indicating the severity and urgency of the situation.
