Tinubu appoints Uzoma Nwagba as CEO of CrediCorp
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Uzoma Nwagba as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CrediCorp), as announced by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale in Abuja.
CrediCorp, established by the Federal Government, aims to improve consumer credit access to 50% of working Nigerians by 2030 by addressing structural barriers and providing capital, guarantees, and policy support. It collaborates with various stakeholders including the Central Bank of Nigeria, financial institutions, fintechs, and policymakers.
Nwagba, with prior experience as Chief Operating Officer of the Bank of Industry and a background in finance and technology, will lead CrediCorp. His role will focus on unifying credit registry and scores using the National Identification Number (NIN) and providing credit guarantees to financial institutions, among other initiatives.
