Tinubu seeks Senate’s confirmation for new CCB chairman

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to consider the nomination of Abdullahi Usman Bello as the new chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Politics Nigeria reports that President Tinubu had appointed Bello as the CCB chairman on March 28, 2024.

In a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu said the appointment is pending confirmation by the senate.

“Tinubu believes that Bello will lead the bureau with utmost integrity toward the realisation of its mandate of maintaining high standards of public morality in the conduct of government business,” he said.

“Dr. Bello is a consummate professional with more than 25 years of work experience in consulting, banking, law enforcement, financial services, and academia,” the statement reads.

According to Bello’s LinkedIn profile, he is an assistant forensic accounting and auditing professor at Northumbria University, United Kingdom.

If his appointment is confirmed by the senate, it will lay to rest, the leadership tussle at the CCB.
