Ukrainian boxing heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usky, has described Jesus Christ as his lord.

Usky said Jesus Christ gave him a gift during his match with British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia.

Usyk defeated Fury following a split-decision.

Fury began well but was given a standing 10 count and saved by the bell after an Usyk onslaught in the ninth round.

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, on Sunday, urged the people of Taraba State to embrace peace and pray for the success of Governor Agbu Kefas.

This is coming a few days after the governor appointed a first class Chief of Takum, a position that has been vacant for more than 28 years.

Some tribes have kicked against the appointment.

In his advice, Primate Ayodele called on the aggrieved tribes not to fight about the new king because it will bring peace, happiness and joy to the state.

The Federal Government, has dismissed the planned alliance between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.

According to the Presidency, President Bola Tinubu is not bothered about the planned alliance, noting that the President was not losing sleep over alliance plots by Atiku and Obi.

Atiku had contested the presidency in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party but lost. Obi also contested as a presidential candidate on the platform of the Labour Party and came third in the election.

Last week, Obi held a private meeting with Atiku and some other PDP leaders in Abuja. Obi also met separately with former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, sparking speculations about a possible coalition for the 2027 general elections.

FG under fire over N90bn Hajj subsidy

The Federal Government, has come under fire for its recent decision to subsidise the 2024 Hajj with N90 billion despite allocating only N50 billion for the student loan scheme in the 2024 budget.

Education and legal experts have slammed the decision, noting that spending such a humongous amount of money to subsidise Hajj is a misplacement of priority.

Representing President Bola Tinubu at the flag-off of the inaugural airlift for the 2024 Hajj exercise at Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima disclosed that the president had ordered the N90 billion subsidy for the 2024 Hajj.

The VP said the president took this initiative given the economic situation of Nigeria, urging the intending pilgrims to pray for peace, unity, and progress in the country.
