😱‼️Tyla has just won the Best Afrobeats Award at the 2024 MTV VMAs (Video Music Awards).🏆
When Tyla came out, they called her a One Hît Wonder but at just 22 and barely 3 years in the music industry, Tyla is slowly becoming the most awarded female African artiste of all time winning almost every award category she is nominated in.✍️
Upon acceptance of her award, she said:
🗣️”You guys already know me at carrying awards and these awards are heavy because I’m not strong but I just have to bear it. This is such a big moment for African music. The global impact that my hitsong “Water” has just prõved that African music cannot only be Afrobeats but it can also be Pop and many other genres. Afrobeats has opened many doors for African music. I come South Africa and I represent Amapiano. I just wanna give a shõut out to all the Afrobeats global artistes. Shout out to Tems, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Lojay.”
