Veekee James offers advice to fellow designers amidst AMVCA outfit controversy
Amidst the ongoing controversy over the AMVCA outfit involving Nana Akua, renowned fashion designer Veekee James has stepped in to offer some advice to her fellow designers.
Recall that Nana Akua Addo, a Ghanaian fashionista, was recently accused by Nigerian designer Ezinne Olivia of not giving proper credit for designing her AMVCA outfit. Following this, Nana Akua’s lawyers issued a cease and desist letter to the designer.
Reacting to the situation, Veekee James offered her perspective, even though she admitted she wasn’t fully aware of all the details of the controversy.
She advised designers and stylists to be wary of clients who ask, “Do you want money or a tag?” urging them to always prioritize payment over recognition.
The fashion designer, who designed Osas Ighodaro’s AMVCA outfit, also encouraged designers to avoid desperation for fame, to prioritize financial transactions, and to understand the true essence of being a designer.
She proudly stated that her success is a result of divine grace, not owing her achievements to any individual.
