Akwa Ibom First Lady Patience Umo Eno dies

Patience, the wife of Governor Umo Eno and the first lady of Akwa Ibom state, died on Thursday after a brief illness.

The death of Patience Umo Eno was announced early Friday morning by Akwa Ibom Commissioner for information Comrade Ini Ememobong, in a statement.

According to the statement, the Akwa Ibom first lady died in an hospital in the presence of her family members following a brief illness.

While the statement did not indicate the nature of the illness, the Commissioner said further information on the sad incident will be provided later.

Emeobong said the Patience Umo Eno who is known for for her quiet strength, charitable heart, and strong faith, leaves behind a legacy of service and compassion.

He added that the late first lady Eno will forever remain in the hearts of the people of Akwa Ibom and beyond.

The statement titled ‘Unexpected Sunset’ reads “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, following an illness. She passed away peacefully at the hospital, on 26th September, 2024, in the presence of her family,” the statement reads.

“The family submits to the will of the Almighty and asks for the prayers and support of kind-hearted individuals during this difficult time. Further details will be provided by the family as necessary. In the meantime, the family kindly requests privacy as they mourn their beloved wife, mother and grandmother.

“His Excellency, the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno appreciates all who have stood by the first family in this period and assures all the citizens that despite this huge personal loss, his commitment to the service of the state is unwavering.”

As the state grieves the loss of its First Lady, further details regarding the burial arrangements will be communicated by the family in due course.

“The entire state has also been asked to keep the governor and his family in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this painful time.”
