Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Burnley: Enzo Fernandez struggles in midfield but Cole Palmer pulls the strings

Chelsea squandered numerous chances in a 2-2 home draw with 10-man Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

Referee Darren England changed the game by awarding a controversial penalty for a foul on Mykhailo Mudryk, sending off Lorenz Assignon and then Burnley manager Vincent Kompany for his protests just before half-time.

Cole Palmer dinked his penalty down the middle to open the scoring but ten-man Burnley equalised through a half-volley from Josh Cullen after the break.

Substitute Raheem Sterling set up Palmer’s second goal, but Dara O’Shea equalised with a header from a corner almost immediately.The result and poor performance piles further pressure on manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Djordje Petrovic – 5

The Serb was outstanding all match, making two stunning saves from Wilson Odobert and Lyle Foster, but made a poor attempt to save O’Shea’s equaliser.

Malo Gusto – 6

The 20-year-old lifted the crowd with some nice touches and front-footed defending but went off with a hamstring injury.

Axel Disasi – 5

VAR ruled out his early goal after it hit his arm. An underwhelming display.

Benoit Badiashile – 5

The Frenchman hadn’t played since February, so understandably struggled.

Marc Cucurella – 5

The Spain international stooped to produce a good diving header, but his overall attacking output was lacking.

Moises Caicedo – 6

Caicedo did the basics well without taking the midfield battle by the scruff of its neck.

Conor Gallagher – 5

Gallagher was a little lax in possession and gave away a free-kick in a dangerous area.

Cole Palmer – 8

Palmer scored a stunning panenka penalty after again pulling the strings. He had a number of shots and eventually added his 18th goal in all competitions.

Enzo Fernandez – 5

The jetlag-busting midfielder only arrived back in the UK from international duty on Thursday night but was ineffective despite lasting the full 90 minutes.

Mykhailo Mudryk – 7

In the first half, the Ukrainian was fouled twice by Assignon, which led to his sending off and Chelsea’s going ahead. He also set up Disasi’s goal, which was ruled out by VAR.

Nicolas Jackson – 5

The striker produced his trademark, hard-working display while being wasteful in front of goal.

Pochettino looked to Noni Madueke before Sterling but his one effort hit the side netting.

Raheem Sterling – 7

Sterling brilliantly set up Palmer’s second goal with a back-heeled assist but missed a big-headed chance.
