First Lady Remi Tinubu donates N1 billion towards ending Tuberculosis in Nigeria

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has donated a staggering sum of N1 billion towards Nigeria’s goal of ending Tuberculosis (TB) by 2023.

Mrs Tinubu presented her generous contribution during her inauguration as the Global and National Stop TB Champion in Abuja on Thursday, March 28.

The event also recognized the wives of the 36 state governors as State Stop TB champions, highlighting the collective effort needed to tackle this public health challenge.

Mrs Tinubu emphasized that her investiture serves as a rallying call for increased action in the fight against TB.

She underscored the importance of collaborative efforts, stressing that ending the scourge of TB requires the active participation and contribution of all sectors of society.

In response to Mrs Tinubu’s contribution and the collective efforts of stakeholders, several prominent organizations pledged their continued support towards Nigeria’s goal of ending TB.

The World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFTAM), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Global Stop TB Partnership Geneva all reiterated their commitment to supporting Nigeria in achieving this vital objective.
