JUST IN; Popular Nigerian Musician allegedly arrested upon arriving Country

Musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington or AKPI, has been arrested by the police in Owerri, Imo State, Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has confirmed.

Adeyanju shared the news on his official Facebook page, stating, “Our client, Speed Darlington a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police in Owerri at his show upon his return to Nigeria.”

While the exact reason for Speed Darlington’s arrest remains unclear, Adeyanju revealed that the musician was taken into custody shortly after returning to Nigeria for a performance.

This incident follows a previous arrest earlier this year, when Speed Darlington was detained by the police over alleged cyberstalking of fellow artist, Burna Boy (Damini Ogulu).

Speed Darlington had posted a video on his social media, suggesting that Burna Boy was associated with disgraced American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs and questioning the legitimacy of Burna Boy’s Grammy win.

Adeyanju had visited Speed Darlington during that time, revealing that Burna Boy had filed a petition against the musician.

However, the human rights lawyer emphasized that there was no substantial evidence in the petition to justify the arrest of his client.

“I have met Speed Darlington” and he’s in good spirits, we are working to get him released on bail as soon as possible,” Adeyanju said.
