Manchester City will have to brush off Champions League heartache when they travel to Wembley to play Chelsea for a place in the FA Cup final.

Pep Guardiola’s side were beaten on penalties by Real Madrid to fall at the quarter-final hurdle and end hopes of a double treble.

Chelsea, meanwhile, return to Wembley for the first time since their Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool in February.

The Blues remain inconsistent but have gone unbeaten against City this season and, in Cole Palmer, they boast one of Europe’s form players looking to prove his previous employers wrong.

City had almost their full compliment available for the Madrid game, although John Stones was only able to play 10 minutes. Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne came off after asking to do so, as Guardiola confirmed after the game.

The Blues could welcome back Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi for the game after they missed Monday’s 6-0 win over Everton.
