In an effort to solve the acute problem of electricity in Riyom Local Government Area, The Transition Implementation Committee Chairman Riyom, Hon Sati B. Shuwa awarded a multimillion naira electrification project to restore stable power in the Local Government.
Following the reports of vandalization of some parts of the project, the T.I.C Chairman undertook an inspection visit of the project to ascertain the progress of work. The visit took the Chairman to Kwall, Bassa LGA, Chugwi, Vom in Jos south LGA, through Ganawuri, to Tahoss and terminated at the Local Government Headquarters, Riyom.
On hand to receive the Chairman and his team were Management of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC), NESCO and the representative of the Ministry of water resources and Power. During the visit, the Chairman was intimated that, JEDC will handover the management of the Power supply to NESCO as soon as the project is completed.
After the visit, the Chairman expressed satisfaction over the level of work and assured that, light will be restored within one month in Riyom as the project is over 90% completion. He called on the benefitting communities to protect the project and report any one trying to sabotage the efforts of government in delivering dividends of democracy. He added that, Security Committees will be constituted in the various Communities to ensure that vandals do not repeat what happened.
He said, his administration is committed to embarking on projects that will have direct impact on the lives of the people at the grassroots. He added that, when the project is completed, it will stimulate economic activities that will benefit the communities and the Local Government in general.
In company of the Council Chairman were the Deputy Chairman, and other members of the Transition Committee.
