World oldest orangutan celebrates her 63rd birthday

The world’s oldest living orangutan, Bella, celebrated her birthday earlier this week.

Born in 1961, Bella was collected from the wild in 1964 and has resided at Hagenbeck Zoo in Hamburg, Germany, ever since then.

To mark her special day, Bella was treated to a birthday cake made of soft-boiled rice and various fruits, which she shared with one of her adopted children, Berani.

Bella’s zookeepers described her as a curious, intelligent, loving, and non-aggressive animal.

They also noted her honesty and prudence, highlighting her remarkable qualities as one of the beloved inhabitants of their zoo.
