According to Football Transfers, Manchester United is prepared to “go all in” this summer to sign Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite, despite interest from Man City and Newcastle.
The news outlet claims on their website (March 28) that a number of elite Premier League teams are interested in signing the 21-year-old central defender due to his strong play this season.
Due to their financial predicament, Everton is likely to demand around £75 million to let Branthwaite depart this summer. Nevertheless, an upfront payment of £65 million may be enough to persuade them, and the Red Devils are prepared to move quickly to get ahead of the competition for his signature as they plot a squad rebuild.
This summer, Everton doesn’t need a saga.
Everton already has a lot of plans for the upcoming season behind them, so the last thing they want to endure this summer is another drawn-out saga.
In the current state of affairs, neither the club’s ownership nor the division they will be competing in are known.
That will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the club’s options during the summer transfer window, both in terms of incoming deals and the amount they can demand in terms of outgoing transfers.
But as soon as those details are known and the club takes the initiative in the negotiations, they must act swiftly to reach a decision. In order to prevent Sean Dyche and the team from having to play catch up, a deadline needs to be established.
In a perfect world, Everton will find a different way to raise money, bolster the team, and hold onto their best players, and Branthwaite will remain at Goodison Park for the 2024–2025 campaign. However, it doesn’t seem likely right now.
